How to change your browser settings
Although additional functionality will be included to allow you to change the text size of the font used and the contrast of the foreground and background colours, the ability to change the way your internet browser displays this site is better controlled within the browser itself. The BBC have created a very useful tutorial which explains how to change your settings to suit your preferences within the software you use.

Browsealoud - what is it ?
- BrowseAloud is a computer program that reads aloud the content of this website content including PDF and MS Word documents
- As you move the cursor over words, they are spoken aloud

Accessibility and the Relaunched Website
Unfortunately at the moment the functionality to change font size and or the background/foreground colours is not implemented. We were going to omit it completely (which is why it is not present at launch), but after consulting with some of our service users and from empirical evidence we've decided that we will add it.
Usability
The structure of this site has been derived through a closed card sort process. The results of the sort are available on request by emailing webmaster@newcastle.gov.uk
Further testing has been carried out on the interface using Silverback from Clearleft, the results of which have been fed back into the design. Furthermore we are constantly measuring and assessing user statistics from a number of other sources such as Google Analytics and Clickheat heat maps. Along with empirical data we will continue the feedback and improvement of the site.
