Urban Design Framework for the Lower Ouseburn Valley, Supplementary Planning Document

The Design Framework for the Lower Ouseburn Valley sets out the generic design principles and general land-use planning and transportation issues for the redevelopment of the Valley; more specifically detailing design principles and indicative images for the sub-areas are:

  • Maling Street (site bounded by Maling St, Ford St and Glasshouse Bridge), and
  • Lower Steenbergs (site bounded by Ouse St, Glasshouse Bridge and Ouseburn Valley).

The framework forms an appendix to the Conservation Area Management Plan for the Valley, building onto the broad design concepts laid out in this document. It will guide the physical regeneration of the Valley at all levels, by informing potential developers of the quality of design expected in key development sites. It complements and enhances the aims and vision of the Regeneration Strategy for the Lower Ouseburn Valley, which seeks the creation of a sustainable mixed use community.
