Local information about Parklands

Parklands ward is situated in the north east of Gosforth and has several established residential areas at Melton Park, Brunton Park, Grange Park and Halls Estate and part of the new build at Newcastle Great Park.  It possesses large areas of green space including Gosforth Park Race Course, Gosforth Wood and Gosforth Lake, plus a number of golf courses. Melton Park contains the remains of a medieval chapel which is a scheduled ancient monument.   

The ward has four schools, Grange First on the Grange Estate, Gosforth East Middle, Gosforth Park/Broadway East First on Granville Road and Gosforth High School on the Great North Road.

The Your Homes Newcastle Housing Office is just over the southern ward boundary on High Street Gosforth. This provides support and a variety of functions including the reporting and monitoring of repairs.

The Gosforth Customer Service Centre and Library is a modern purpose built facility based on Regent Farm Road that offers you access to a range of public services including:

  • Newcastle City Council Customer Service Centre (CSC) delivering over 90 different council services 
  • A spacious library with lots of new books to choose from and PC's for public use with free internet access 
  • Community meeting room facilities

The Regent Centre contains a Metro Station which provides transport to both the city centre and directly to Newcastle International Airport, as does the neighbouring Wansbeck Road Metro station.

The boundary starts at the intersection of the A1/ Coach Lane and then heads south on the A1 to the Ouseburn. It turns east along the Ouseburn, then south to the rear of the City of Newcastle Golf Course until Kingston Park Road is reached. It then heads east along Kingston Park Road to the roundabout and then south along Wansbeck Road North (odd numbers included) to the Wansbeck Road Metro station. The boundary then follows the Metro line east to the Great North Road. It continues north along Great North Road then turns east to the rear of the properties on Harewood Road. It continues east along Links Green Walk and along the edge of the Gosforth Golf Course to the Ouseburn. It follows the Ouseburn south to the intersection of the Metro line and Salters Lane. It then heads north along Salters Lane (A189) to the Benton Lane roundabout and continues north along the A189 to the Sandy Lane/Gosforth Park roundabout. The boundary then heads west along Sandy Lane to the B1318 roundabout.  Finally it heads south between the A1 and the B1318 to the A1056 and continues west along the A1056 to join the A1.
