Local information about Fawdon

In Fawdon ward you have access to the Kenton Customer Service Centre on Halewood Avenue. This office provides and supports a variety of functions including the reporting and monitoring of repairs for Your Homes Newcastle tenants.

Fawdon has two schools; Regent Farm First School and North Fawdon Primary School and a community nursery, Barnardos on Kirkwood Drive.

Fawdon Library on Fawdon Park Road offers computers with free access to the internet, a children’s library and music Cd's. It has a range of multicultural books and a story time session for children. Kenton library is easily accessible for residents who live in the southern part of Fawdon ward. The library is in the Customer Service Centre on Halewood Avenue. It also offers free access to computers and the internet. Additionally it houses a number of community groups including a local history group.

North Kenton Park is home to Kenton Sports Centre which offers a range of sports facilities including two bowling pavilions, an all weather pitch, tennis courts and a children’s playground. The park covers 4.25 hectares of open grassed space. Fawdon Park is also in Fawdon ward.

The boundary of Fawdon ward starts at the footbridge over the Ouseburn which is at the rear of the City of Newcastle Golf Course and it continues along the Ouseburn to the A1. The boundary heads southwest to Hazeldene Avenue where it turns and continues east into Quentin Avenue. At the bowling green the boundary heads south to Kirkwood Drive and turns south at the east of Mountfield Primary School. It turns eastward between Kirkwood Drive and Mountfield Gardens and runs along the southern edge of the allotment gardens. At Kenton Road the boundary runs north and then east onto Souter Road. It then continues to the south of Lambert Square and on to the rear of Wall Close onto Wall Street. From Wall Street it heads northwest along Jubilee Road to the Wansbeck Road roundabout. It runs north of Wansbeck Road South past Regent Farm First School and Wansbeck Park Metro onto Wansbeck Road North to the Kingston Park Road roundabout. From here the boundary runs north along the properties to the rear of Farne Avenue and Acomb Crescent back to the Ouseburn footbridge.
