Blakelaw ward is located in the north of the city.
The ward has three primary schools: Thomas Walling, English Martyrs' RC and Hilton as well as Willow Avenue Community Nursery.

Blakelaw Neighbourhood Centre is a community centre and library which service local residents. It, along with Fenham Hut, provides a range of activities and services for the community. Residents of the ward also use Fenham Library which is situated, locally, within the Fenham ward boundary.
The ward has two large green spaces, Blakelaw Park and Tavern sports ground. The Cowgate Leisure Centre is within easy reach of Blakelaw residents. It offers two halls which can be hired, a fitness room and has a timetable of other fitness and community activities.
The actual boundary of Blakelaw ward starts at the A1 junction with the Woolsington By-pass and Ponteland Road. It heads southwest along the A1 to the Stamdfordham Road junction and south to Slatyford Lane bus depot. The boundary joins Silver Lonnen and continues down to Netherby Drive and Fenham Hall Drive. It heads north up Wingrove Road North to Ponteland Road where it continues back to the starting point of the A1 junction.
